5 reasons why Thugs of Hindostan starring Big B & Aamir is like Pirates of the Caribbean
Boom! There comes the trailer of the film Thugs of Hindostan, which remains the much-awaited movies of B Town this year. Thanks to its ensemble star cast, rich content and special effects, the film has been the talk of the town since it was announced. You can find the megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Mr. Perfectionist – Aamir Khan in it along with the glam girl – Katrina Kaif and yes the Dangal girl as well – Fatima Sana Shaikh, which add higher star value to the film. While watching the trailer, one would realise it to be a visual treat for the audience who has been anticipating for it. However, as you dig in deep, you realize several similarities the popular franchise of Hollywood – Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, you don’t believe it, well, keep on reading to know the reasons to this claim:
1). The Cinematography – The very first shot of Big B entering the ship sliding over the rope seen sailing in a queue to a couple of fight sequences between the actor and the thugs along with the British army, one can easily find too much of similarities with the popular Hollywood franchise. That’s not all; you would even remember other movies like Black Pearl, The Curse, Dead Men Tell No Tales, Dead Man’s Chest, and At World’s End.
2). Firangi (Aamir Khan) & Captain Jack Sparrow – If you look at the character of Aamir Khan called Firangi; it has similarities with the title character – Captain Jack Sparrow played by Johnny Depp in the film Pirates of the Caribbean. A lot of things in both the characters are common, which include the rusty avatar, ethically flexible temperament, and yes the body language too. The character of Jack Sparrow remains an animated character; it seems that Aamir has added some of the brush strokes from it.
3). Azaad and Davy Jones – Even the character of Big B (Azaad) is somewhere similar to the character of Davy Jones played by Bill Nighly in the famous franchise. Though the similarities are not prominent as seen in Firangi and Jack Sparrow, yet there is something to notice in Azad and Davy. Both have the nature of fighting for a righteous cause – a similar vibe in both the characters.
4). John Clive and Cutler Beckett – The man in a negative role in the Yash Raj film is played by Llyod Owen (played by Tom Hollander) with the character known as John Clive. He plays the British chief (either East India Company or their Army). If you compare him with the antagonist seen in Pirates called Cutler Beckett, there are several similarities. Both are cunning, tough and rude.
